Life's Lessons

Here are a couple of things I learned this past week while dealing with my foot surgery.

1. I didn't know I could miss someone so much! My mom has been a huge help and so have all of my friends but I just keep asking for Brian. When I was coming to after the operation I just asked the nurses over and over if Brian was there. Ha Ha! I’m pretty much a sucker for him!

2. Your hip is an important joint! Mine has been immobile and is now missing chunks of bone. Yeah It HURTS!

3. When the doctor tells you will want a nerve block believe him. It was the best; it numbed my foot pain for the first 24 hours.

4. I could never be addicted to pin pills I loathe taking them and how they make me feel.

5. When the doc says they are going to rebuild your foot they mean it ...not only will the x-rays look like something you haven’t seen but it will feel like they just cut yours off and put someone else’s on there for you.

I will stop complaining now. Sorry I had to vent a little I have been in the worst pain I have ever felt. I am so thankful for my friends and family who have tried so hard to cheer me up. I am pretty lucky to have such a loving fan club.

Surgery

Next Wednesday I am having foot surgery. I got in a car accident 9 years ago and as a result my ankle is fused. It always hurt a little but recently that changed. I was on a date a month or two ago and took a step, I yelped, almost fell over, and then cried. I could handle the pain but the embarrassment of squealing from the pain in public not a chance. I made an appointment the next day. When I went in the Doc said he could fix it but he had only done similar surgeries a hand full of times (as if I m not nervous enough!). We scheduled for December 12th. It is rapidly approaching and I am franticly trying to pull together sub plans for 13 days of school, I wont be back until January 11th.

I am sure you are fascinated and want to find out what they are doing when they bust out the power tools in the O.R. Here is the list!

1. They are cutting off my heel
2. They are cutting threw the bone in the joint that was fused when I was 17.
3. They are cutting 2 cm of bone out of my hip
4. They are taking my hip bone and sticking it in my ankle joint
5. They are fusing it, this means they are screwing it all together until the bones heal and the joint won’t move.
6. They screw my heel back on.

I am pretty much scared to death. It is going to hurt like HELL! I am going to be in a wheel chair for 6 to 8 weeks not to fun! I goggled images to find some pictures but they were all very scary. So that is the only other eventful thing going on in my life, well other than my whole falling for Brian thing!

Thanksgiving

Ok I have been MIA. I have a great excuse well kind of! Thanks to Heidi and Shauna I have been glued to my phone. This next statement may be a shocker but I think I am hanging up my player shoes. Ok I have and I am loving it! It is true. Pick up your jaw and keep reading. I am so excited this. Brian and I spent Thanksgiving together in Jackson Hole with his family (his family is so much fun) and it was perfect! I don’t think either of us has stopped smiling since picked him up at the airport. Next he is coming to Glendale for Christmas (this is new for me so... ADVICE? )

2nd Grade or Hell?

This Past Thursday...

A student barfed on the ramp up to my classroom. Another student tracked it in! EWWWW!

One of my freaked out and was removed by the behavior specialist. When we walked by the AC room (alternative classroom) I was surprised to see 4 cops pinning one of my student to the floor. The rest of my class was mortified! I was too, one of the cops was cute so of course I bee lined it there once I dropped the kids off. He was married!
That student has bit, hit, bushed and kicked, myself and 4 other adults. She pushed me over one day. I’m sure I wouldn’t have fallen down if I was able to balance but I’m kind of challenged in that department.

A kid pooped on the floor; actually it fell out of his pants. I didn't PUKE so I guess that was a personal victory! I had the whole class leave the room until the custodian cleaned it up.

A student stole the following items
1. My 3-hole punch
2. A 2 in. binder
3. The file with my homework masters for the year
4. The comprehension tests for the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th reading units
5. 40 pencils
My class was in another 2nd grade class and he "went to the bathroom". He really went to our classroom and had a random file cabinet raiding 5 minutes.

I announced that I was quitting to my pony replacements... (My new teacher friends) they just laughed and offered to take my class the next day!

I know all of you miss teaching from time to time, when you start thinking you are missing something then just think about this glorious day and be thankful you are at home with children that you love unconditionally. (Sorry! That was kind of sappy)

The next day at school things were MUCH MUCH MUCH better and I got flowers! Hello flowers are always a fun surprise!

I am a wannabe parent

So I was just at home visiting my family (they are as crazy as ever) and I introduced my new dog Ellie to her soon to be boyfriend (My parents dog) Dutch. When I turned 26 I decided I should either get knocked up or get a dog. Seeing as how owning a dog is less work and much less upsetting for my parents I went with a the dog! Her name is Elli. She is a year old and weighs 8lbs. I've only had her a month and already she is so spoiled. I got her from a woman who is getting divorced and was forced to get rid of her. Ellie had been in a back yard for 2 months with 2 pit bulls. They had been biting her so she has some scares and were a little skittish. I have been trying to get her to socialize as much as possible. I think she is just about ready for the dog park.

Hi My Teaching Friends

I’m not sure what I am going to be putting on here because I don’t have a husband or kids.... I guess you will all have to comment on the headshots of my dates! Kidding! So I went to the sand dunes this weekend... It was better than I thought it would be. It was actually tons of fun, it wasn’t nearly as trashy as I expected! I was pretty wimpy at first but then I got brave, maybe to brave I slid into a tree and had to be rescued by strangers. It is good thing that I’m so good at playing a damsel in distress! It made me think of this time I went four wheeling with Beth! Awww memories!

OK,

Hello girls I miss you all tons! I think you guys got used to and appreciated my random thoughts and comments more than my team does right now. This years team is older than me lots older so we don’t have much in common.
